This tray measures 7.68 by 5.71 inches and stands 1.57 inches deep. That’s the shallow version of the 195 series – 40mm depth instead of 55mm. It holds 600ml, about 20 ounces. The shallower shape makes it a good fit for dishes where you don’t want too much liquid pooling at the bottom: think baked pasta, enchiladas, or a rice bowl with toppings.
The rim folds over a cardboard or plastic lid. No machine needed – just pinch and roll. It’s not for thin soups, but for thick sauces and casseroles it seals fine. A meal prep customer told us they use this size for their “teriyaki chicken bowl.” The shallow depth keeps the sauce coating the rice instead of drowning it.
Packing is 1000 pieces per carton. Carton size is 50 x 31 x 41cm. That’s a fairly compact box for a thousand trays, thanks to the shallow profile – they nest tightly. Available lids are cardboard or plastic. The plastic lid gives a slightly tighter seal, but the cardboard one is cheaper and recyclable.
Why choose shallow over deep? Two reasons. First, heating efficiency. A shallow tray heats through faster in an oven or microwave because the food layer is thinner. Second, presentation. Customers see the toppings right away when they open the lid – no digging through a deep container. A BBQ caterer uses these for their cornbread and baked beans sides. The shallow depth keeps the beans from turning into soup.
From a production angle, making a shallow tray uses less aluminum per piece – 8 grams versus deeper models. That keeps cost down and reduces material waste. The foil is food grade aluminum, standard for baking and freezing. It goes from freezer to oven without cracking.
Recycling is simple. Rinse and toss in the bin. Aluminum recycles forever, and many local programs accept clean foil trays. For a restaurant trying to cut plastic, this is a direct replacement for black plastic clamshells.
So if you’re packing baked ziti, enchiladas, or a hearty rice bowl, this 7.68x5.71 shallow tray is worth a look. It heats fast, stacks flat, and folds shut.
