Freezer to oven without transferring. That's the whole point of a 70mm deep, 960ml gold bowl. It holds about four cups – enough for a family sized shepherd's pie, a double batch of mac and cheese, or a week's worth of soup base. The 6.3 inch diameter is wide enough to spread out a layer of mashed potatoes on top, but not so wide that it won't fit in a standard home oven. Most domestic ovens handle a 7 inch pan easily, so at 6.3 inches you have clearance.
A frozen meal startup in Colorado uses these for their "emergency dinner" line. They fill the gold bowl with beef stew, seal it with a foil lid (crimped by hand), and freeze. Customers pull one out at 5 PM, peel off the lid, and bake at 180°C for 45 minutes. The gold bowl goes straight from freezer to oven. No thawing, no glass dish to wash. The owner told us they tried plastic containers first, but the plastic cracked at low temperatures and warped in the oven. Aluminum just works.
The 70mm depth is the key. Shallower than that – say 50mm – and a casserole would bubble over during baking. Deeper than that – 90mm – and the top would burn before the center cooked through. At 70mm, you get a full inch of headroom above a standard 2*inch fill line. That air gap prevents spillage and allows heat to circulate.
You have two lid choices. The foil lid gives you a 100% aluminum package – recyclable, oven safe (though you'd remove it during baking), and crimpable by hand. The plastic lid snaps on for quick sealing, good for cold storage or dry goods. Neither is heat seal film, but this rim is also compatible with standard heat seal equipment if you need leakproof for liquids. Most buyers of this size use it for semi solids like stews, casseroles, or chunky soups.
Packing is 500 pieces per carton. The carton is 34x34x35cm – a nearcube, which palletizes efficiently. The gold lacquer is applied before forming, so it won't scratch off during nesting. One restaurant chain uses these for their "family meal deal" – a gold bowl of lasagna, a side salad, and breadsticks. The gold color makes the $25 price tag feel reasonable. Customers post photos of the gold bowl on their dinner table. Free advertising.
Recycling is the same as any aluminum container. Rinse, toss. Some municipalities ask you to crush it. That's easy with a 70mm deep bowl – just step on it. The gold coating burns off in the recycling furnace.
So if you're running a meal prep service, a frozen food brand, or a restaurant that wants to offer family size takeout, this 960ml gold bowl is a workhorse. It freezes, it bakes, it presents well, and it disappears into the recycling bin when dinner is over.
