This deep version of the 210 series goes down 50mm – almost 2 inches. That extra depth compared to the shallow version changes what you can pack. With 900ml capacity, it holds a full family size beef stew, two portions of chicken curry with rice, or a hearty lentil soup (though the crimped rim isn't fully leakproof, so thick broths are fine but runny soups still need caution). The tray measures 8.27 by 5.51 inches at the top opening.
The rim folds over a cardboard or plastic lid by hand. No heat sealing equipment required. A customer running a takeoutonly Indian kitchen told us they use this deep tray for their dal makhani and paneer butter masala. The depth keeps the sauce from sloshing against the lid during delivery, and the fold holds well enough that they stopped getting spill complaints.
Packing is 1000 pieces per carton. Carton size is 54 x 29 x 44cm. That’s a manageable box – not too heavy when full. Available lids are cardboard or plastic. The plastic lid gives a tighter fit for wetter dishes, but the cardboard one works fine for thick curries and stews and adds a nice natural look.
Why go deep? Because some dishes simply don't work in shallow trays. A layered enchilada casserole needs vertical space. A shepherd's pie with mashed potatoes on top needs at least an inch and a half. A frozen ready meal with gravy needs room so the gravy doesn't overflow when reheated. This 50mm depth solves those problems.
One meal prep company uses these for their “family dinner” line – four servings of pasta bake, a bag of salad on the side, and a cardboard lid. Customers heat the whole tray at 180°C for 20 minutes. No extra dishes. Another caterer packs them with scalloped potatoes and ham for holiday buffets. The deep walls keep the creamy sauce from spilling when trays are stacked in a hot box.
From a production angle, drawing a tray this deep requires more stages in the press. The aluminum has to stretch further without thinning out at the corners. That’s why deep trays often use a slightly heavier gauge foil than shallow ones. But once formed, they stack efficiently – the nesting is tight, which is why 1000 pieces fit into a 54x29x44cm carton.
Recycling is the same as any aluminum tray. Rinse off food, toss in the recycling bin. Aluminum recycles forever. For restaurants looking to move away from plastic, this deep tray offers the same convenience without the environmental baggage.
So if you’re packing stews, layered casseroles, or any dish that needs a bit of height, try this 8.27x5.51 deep tray. It folds shut, stacks well, and goes from freezer to oven without a fuss.
